Charity number

The number is not just an identifier. In England and Wales, registered charities above the income threshold must state it on a defined list of documents.

The duty covers notices, advertisements, cheques, invoices, receipts and similar documents issued by or on behalf of the charity. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own equivalent requirements with their own wording.

Add it to your email footer, website footer and templates once rather than remembering each time. If you are a charitable company you will also have a company number, and both may need to appear.
