About CharityIQ

Grounded AI, built for UK charities

CharityIQ is grounded AI built for small and medium UK charities, bringing grant discovery and writing, Charity Commission compliance, and impact measurement into one platform. Every answer is cited to verified sources, with audit trails by default. It is designed around UK funders, UK regulators and UK pricing, and is operated by CIQ Technologies Ltd, registered in England and Wales.

01Why we exist

The right tools never reached small charities.

The UK has roughly 169,000 registered charities. More than 60% of them have annual income under £100,000, and the median UK charity is run by part-time staff and unpaid trustees who do everything — fundraising, governance, programme delivery, communications.

The tools available to those charities have been a problem for years. Generic SaaS doesn't know UK funders. Generic AI invents statistics. Sector-specific tools are priced for £5m+ organisations. And free templates only get you to the first draft — they don't help with the next funder, or the annual return, or the impact report.

So small charities make do. They write applications from scratch every time, paste the same context into ChatGPT, and lose evenings to spreadsheets. Important work doesn't get done because the wrong work crowds it out.

CharityIQ exists to give that segment of the sector tools that fit them. Properly grounded AI. Audit trails by default. UK funders, UK regulators, UK pricing.

02Grounded AI

What we mean by “grounded AI”.

Generic AI generates plausible-sounding text from training data. It doesn't know your charity's beneficiaries, past applications, or the actual statistics for your ward. It will invent a poverty rate that sounds right and call it ONS data.

Generic AI

Plausible, but unaccountable.

Writes from training data. Can't see your charity. Invents a statistic that sounds right — and risks your funder relationship.

Grounded AI

Sourced, and auditable.

Draws on your Commission profile, beneficiary records, past applications, funder criteria and ONS local stats — at the moment of generation. Every claim cites its source.

For a charity sector that runs on trust, that distinction matters. We'd rather give a charity a slower draft with sources than a polished one that risks a funder relationship.

03What we build
04Who builds it
Ivan Siyanko
Founder · runs a UK registered charity

CharityIQ is built by someone who needs the product — every feature has been needed at the kitchen table at 11pm on a Tuesday writing a grant application.

We deliberately keep the team small and the scope focused. We don't compete with case-management tools (Plinth does that well) or bespoke enterprise AI (Undercroft serves that market). We're built for the charity in the small-to-medium income band that needs grants done well, compliance done well, and impact done well — connected, fairly priced, self-serve.

You can read more about why I built it in the founder letter.

06What we promise

Four things we'll always be honest about.

Honest about limits

If our tool isn't right for your charity — you need case management, or you're a £10m+ organisation — we'll tell you, and point you to who fits better.

Honest about source

Every claim our platform makes about your charity, your funders, or your sector is sourced — clickable, verifiable, exportable.

Honest about price

Public pricing, simple tiers, no surprise enterprise quotes. Free Grant Finder is free forever.

Honest about AI

AI assists; humans approve. Trustees and CEOs remain accountable. Our audit trail makes that defensible.
