Acceptable Use Policy
CharityIQ is built for legitimate UK charity work. This policy sets out what you can and cannot do on the platform.

What you may do
- Use the platform to draft grant applications, compliance documents, and impact reports for your charity
- Store your charity’s verified data, beneficiary information (with appropriate consent), and past application history
- Export your data at any time
- Invite colleagues, trustees, and approved professional advisers as users on your account
What you must not do
- Submit false or fabricated information to funders or regulators using outputs from the platform. AI assists; you remain accountable for accuracy.
- Use the platform for non-charity work that does not align with the charitable objects of a UK registered charity, CIO, CIC, or not-for-profit
- Process personal data unlawfully — including beneficiary data without an appropriate lawful basis under UK GDPR
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the platform
- Scrape or bulk-extract our funder database, sector data, or any other proprietary content
- Resell or sub-license access to the platform without our written agreement
- Train competing AI models on outputs generated by our platform
- Bypass rate limits, security controls, or access controls
- Send unsolicited bulk communications (“spam”) through the platform or to our staff
- Upload malware, illegal content, or material that infringes intellectual property
- Impersonate another organisation or misrepresent your charity’s status
Beneficiary data — special care
If you upload data about identifiable individuals (beneficiaries, donors, staff), you must:
- Have a lawful basis under UK GDPR Article 6 (and Article 9 for special category data)
- Have an appropriate privacy notice in place
- Apply data minimisation — only upload what’s necessary
- Ensure beneficiary case studies and quotes are used with informed consent
Our Data Processing Agreement sets out the technical and organisational measures we apply.
AI use — funder disclosure
Some UK funders ask whether AI was used in preparing applications. If asked, answer honestly. Our outputs are clearly grounded in verified data and cite their sources — funders generally welcome this transparency.
Reporting abuse
If you believe another user is breaching this policy, email office@charityiq.co.uk. We investigate every report and take action proportionate to the severity.
Consequences of breach
If you breach this policy, we may (depending on severity): warn you, suspend your account, terminate your account without refund, or refer matters to relevant authorities.
