Trustee declaration

Eligibility is not something a charity can verify entirely from outside. The declaration is how the charity establishes that it asked.

The declaration should confirm that the person is not disqualified on any statutory ground and that they understand their responsibilities. Charity registration also requires trustees to make declarations, and a knowingly false statement on a registration application is an offence.

Refresh annually rather than once at appointment — circumstances change. See disqualification and checking eligibility.
